30 Rasgos Sorprendentemente infalibles del espíritu de Jezabel

"Jezabel es un espíritu, que ha encontrado el acceso a través de la mente no crucificada".

Aunque el espíritu de Jezabel parece ser más frecuente en las mujeres, no hay duda de que funciona hábilmente en hombres también.

1. Se niega a admitir su culpabilidad o error.

Un espíritu de Jezabel no se equivoca nunca, a menos que sea una admisión temporal de culpabilidad para ganar "favor" con alguien. Aceptar la responsabilidad violaría el núcleo de la inseguridad y el orgullo en el  que opera. Cuando Jezabel se disculpa lo que nunca es  con verdadero arrepentimiento o reconocimiento de la maldad, hace  la expresión socialmente aceptada "siento mucho que se hayan herido tus sentimientos.", "¿dije algo que no te gustó?"

2. Toma crédito por todo.

Mientras que un fuerte rasgo de Jezabel es no asumir la responsabilidad de sus actos o conductas equivocadas, también se apresura a tomar el crédito para los beneficios por los que aportó ningún esfuerzo.

3. Utiliza la gente para cumplir con su agenda, o para lograr su agenda.

El espíritu de Jezabel deja que otros hagan el trabajo sucio o pesado. Los jezabélicos agitanlas emociones de los demás, con falsa dulzura y falsa piedad en ocasiones,haciendo que la personas entren ira y así neutralizarlo, alejarlo o destruirlo. El jezabélico o jezabélica se presenta y  parece inocente, diciendo: "¿Quién yo? ¿Qué he hecho?" Este comportamiento hace que sea difícil, incluso engaña a los mas ardientes buscadores de la verdad. El espíritu de Jezabel es inteligente con su agenda.

4. Retiene información.

Esta es una forma de control. Una Jezabel ejerce poder sobre ti al saber algo que tu desconoces sobre una situación. A los ojos de una Jezabel, tener información que tu no tiene es una poderosa arma de control.

5. habla para confundir

Es imposible conversar con una Jezabel en lógica. Un pastor escribió una carta de seis páginas a sus ancianos sobre una situación de la iglesia en particular. El contexto era tan vago que todos estaban confundidos. Esta es una manera de mantener el control y la dominación. Cuando se confronta una Jezabel, el asunto puede ser cambiado cinco veces en un minuto. Confusión mantiene lo oculto "sin descubrir" y no puede ser expuesto. Todo lo oculto y de doble agenda viene de satanás, recordemos que su ciencia se llama ocultismo.

6. Se ofrece por nada

Jezabel se ofrece, a fin de establecer el control. Él o ella tiene aparentemente inagotable energía (nervioso) y ansiosamente busca oportunidades para estar a cargo de los proyectos. A pesar de que va a trabajar duro, su motivación nunca es pura, y, finalmente, su agenda secreta no se puede ocultar.

7. Miente

Una Jezabel miente convincentemente. Nadie puede mentir mejor que él o ella. Se puede encender el encanto y hacerte creer que azul es rojo. Siempre ridiculiza a  aquellos a quien acaba de conocer, mientras que los que han sido víctimas de sus tácticas destacan por no poder hacer nada. 8. Ignora las personas

Una táctica clásica de un controlador es ignorarte  cuando estás en desacuerdo con ella o él. Esta táctica es utilizada con frecuencia por los que lideran cuando alguien no está de acuerdo con sus planes, y aíslan a las personaignorándolas. Algunas personas han sido ignoradas durante meses, sólo porque eligieron no ser una marioneta y confrontar cada idea o capricho. Esto pone a la persona fuera de la gracia del líder y lo obliga a ser "bueno para nada" o “comodín” a la manera de pensar del líder de pensar o  puede llegar a ser ignorado por tiempo indefinido. Uno no es libre de estar en desacuerdo con un controlador.

9. No da crédito o muestra gratitud, nunca agradece.

Una  Jezabel rara vez se reconoce las acciones de otra persona, ni siquiera por algo que resultó de gran beneficio a la propia Jezabel. No se atreve a decir gracias ni a reconocer que alguien hizo algo correcto. Hay algunos que se han salido de su camino para bendecir una Jezabel por ser el catalizador y enviarlo en un viaje o darle un regalo. Sin embargo, nunca habrá la palabra gracias. Esto pone de nuevo a el controlador en una posición de poder.

10. Critica a todos

Esta es una característica de un controlador. Él o ella tiene que ser la persona que se ve bien, por lo que será rápidamente fuertemente en criticar a cualquiera que haga una sugerencia o plan. A pesar de que a él le gusta el plan, sólo puede criticarlo porque la idea no se originó a partir de él. Criticar a los demás eleva el controlador en su propia mente. Y al final de todo termina copiando los planes de quien critica.

11. Ejerce rivalidad

Una persona con un espíritu de Jezabel siempre eclipsa y opaca  a otra persona. Él o ella se siente amenazada por cualquiera que se atreva a robar el centro de atención o de cualquier persona que sea una amenaza para su poder y control. Si estás con esa persona y le hablas de tus logros, puedes  tener la certeza y puedes estar seguro que te dirá rápidamente  algo que él o ella ha logrado.

12. Secuestra Información

A Jezabel le gusta tener el control de la información. Si alguna vez hay una situación donde la información es importante, va a forzar para ser el "primero" en saberlo. Parece que sabe todo sobre todos. De  donde obtiene toda esa información está más allá de la comprensión, pero puede dictar datos y detalles sobre la vida y las acciones de la gente en grandes cantidades.

13. Utiliza la información

Jezabel usa la información para influenciar con poder y comparte cositas contigo, a menudo cosas que le han dicho de forma confidencial o en  confianza. Esto le da una sensación de poder, hasta el punto de tratar de impresionar a la gente por "cosas" que otros no saben.

14. Habla sin parar

Muchas personas hablan habitualmente, pero una Jezabel estila hablarcon una actitud de control. En una conversación normal, domina toda la conversación, si se trata de deportes, el clima o el Reino de Dios. Debido a esta forma de control, no es capaz de recibir información de cualquier persona en su vida. Todas las conversaciones con unilateral. Un perfecto monologo. Tu solo eres el oyente.

15. Espiritualiza todo

Cuando te enfrentas a un controlador, este tipo de personas normalmente espiritualiza la situación, explicándola en Dios. Esto le impide aceptar la responsabilidad que se le exige. La implicación es siempre: "Tú eres el del problema, no yo."

16. Es insubordinado

Jezabel nunca está de parte del empleador  o de una persona con autoridad, a menos que sea una acción temporal para parecer bueno. A menudo tomará mérito por la idea de otra persona. Su mayor deseo es el de poder y control. No hay conciencia cuando se presenta una oportunidad de reconocimiento.

17. Es agresivo y dominante

Una persona con un espíritu de Jezabel presiones a hacer cosas, rasgando inteligentemente tu derecho a hacer o decir cosas por ti mismo. Él hace que los demás sienten que no tienen suficiente sentido común para pensar por sí mismos.

18. Es clarividente

Muchos de los que operan con un espíritu de control también tienen un espíritu clarividente. Jezabel tiene ayuda sobrenatural en saber y detectar información. Si utiliza esto en tu contra, puede decir “no puedo decir cómo lo sé. Solo lo sé." Y estono es el Espíritu Santo, esta ayuda viene de un espíritu clarividente o similar. La Clarividencia se puede definir como el poder de percibir las cosas que están fuera de la gama de los sentidos humanos.

19. Utiliza el factor sorpresa

El objetivo principal de una Jezabel es estar en control, y una gran parte del control se impone cuando tu tienes la guardia baja. Por lo tanto, el elemento de sorpresa funciona bien cuando se presenta un día antes de una reunión, etc.

20. Siembra las semillas de la discordia

Una Jezabel minimiza continuamente a otra persona de la manera más sutil. La estrategia consiste en "obtener" control, reduciendo al mínimo el valor de otra persona. Es común que  diga verdades a medias para implicar de forma negativa ante tus ojos a otra persona.Esta herramienta permite que no la acusen de mentirosa. Al sembrar estas semillas, que espera obtener finalmente una cosecha de la destrucción, mejorando su posición de poder.

A Jezabel le gusta ser el centro de atención y no le gusta ver a otros reconocidos y elogiados. Cuando alguien es reconocido, rápidamente socavaráverbalmentelos logros de la otra persona.

22. Es vengativo o vengativa

Desde luego una Jezabel nunca se equivoca, ni se contradice, ni se confrontan, se preparan para convertirse en tu peor enemigo. Mientras estás de acuerdo con él, todo está bien. 26. Es ambicioso

La Jezabel tiene un fuerte deseo, pero todo para sí misma. "Yo quiero, lo que quiero cuando lo quiero", describe la adoración de la voluntad propia. Un líder Jezabel nunca usará las palabras: "Tenemos una visión", sino: "Mi visión es esto o aquello."

27. Hace regalos

Hacer regalos es una forma de manipulación que Jezabel utiliza, siempre te hace sentir que él o ella esimprescindible para ti. También neutraliza a la víctima en decir la verdad directa y confrontante. Naturalmente, no todo el que hace regalos es culpable de control, sino que dar regalos es una táctica utilizada por aquellos que tienen una necesidad de control.

28. Es independiente

Y describe  a voux populi su independenciaEn otros casos la esconde para parecer sujeto a la autoridad. Nadie tiene entrada en la vida de una (un)Jezabelic@. Él/ella no confraterniza con nadie a menos que sea para conseguir que "coopere" con su agenda.

29. Es religiosa o religioso

Una Jezabel mora en la iglesia local, pero no le gusta la autoridad, a menos que esté en la posición de autoridad.

30. Oculta, se esconde

Todos creemos que la persona con un espíritu de Jezabel es evidente. La persona puede parecer "normal" por un periodo, sin exhibir ninguno de los rasgos clásicos. Entonces, de repente y sin previo aviso, una situación se producirá, una vez más con el espíritu controlador que  causa estragos sobre la vida de los demás. Con suerte, el verdadero arrepentimiento llegará. Sólo entonces se libertará a la persona.

31. Sexo y seducción

Jezabel  siempre tratará de atraer a su víctima a la cama para cometer fornicación o adulterio. Jezabel realmente no se preocupa por el sexo. Este espíritu maligno usa el sexo como una manera de controlarte.

 No te extrañes que mande fotos que parezcan inofensivas mostrando su silueta o atributos, recuerda que imágenes con intención sexual pueden durar mucho tiempo rondando en la mente. Las imágenes sexualmente explicitas pueden durar 26 años en la mente y reproducirse sin problemas.

La buena noticia es que Dios le da a cada persona la libertad de elección. Todo el mundo tiene la libertad de tomar decisiones, a cometer errores, a pensar por sí mismo, de comunicar, de gusto o disgusto y expresar su gusto y creatividad.

Los que controlan son la adoración de su propia voluntad y sus propias formas. Gracias a Dios por la libertad.

30 Amazingly Consistent Traits of the Jezebel Spirit

"Jezebel is a spirit, but it has found access through uncrucified flesh."

Although the Jezebel spirit seems to be more prevalent in women, there is no doubt that it functions just as proficiently through men. 

1. Refuses to admit guilt or wrong

A Jezebel spirit is never wrong, unless it is a temporary admittance of guilt to gain "favor" with someone. To accept responsibility would violate the core of insecurity and pride from which it operates. When a Jezebel apologizes it isnever in true repentance or acknowledgment of wrongdoing but rather "I'm sorry your feelings were hurt."

2. Takes credit for everything

While a strong trait of Jezebel is to never take responsibility for his wrong actions or behavior, he also is quick to take credit for benefits for which he contributed no effort.

3. Uses people to accomplish its agenda

The Jezebel spirit lets others do its dirty work. The Jezebel gets another person's emotions stirred up, then lets that person go into a rage. The Jezebel sits back looking innocent, saying "Who me? What did I do?" This behavior makes it difficult for even the most ardent truth seekers to pin one down. The Jezebel spirit is clever in its agenda.

4. Withholds information

This is a form of control. A Jezebel wields power over you by knowing something you don't know in a situation. In the eyes of a Jezebel, having information you don't have is a powerful weapon of control.

5. Talks in confusion

It is impossible to converse with a Jezebel in logic. One pastor wrote a six-page letter to his elders about a situation in the church. The context was so vague that no one was without confusion. This is a way to maintain control and domination. When confronting a Jezebel, the subject may be changed five times in one minute. Confusion keeps them "undiscovered" and unexposed.

6. Volunteers for anything

A Jezebel volunteers in order to establish control. He seemingly has endless (nervous) energy and eagerly looks for opportunities to be in charge of projects. Although he will work hard, his motive is never pure, and eventually his secret agenda cannot be hidden.

7. Lies

A Jezebel lies convincingly. No one can lie better than he can. He can turn on the charm and make you believe blue is red. He always fools those whom he's just met while those who have been victimized by his tactics stand by helplessly. The fact that Jezebel can look you in the eye and lie just shows how strong and adamant this rebellious and recalcitrant spirit is.

8. Ignores people

A classic ploy of a controller is to ignore you when you disagree with him. This tactic is frequently used by leaders when someone doesn't agree with their plans, and they isolate the person by ignoring him. Some in these situations have been ignored for months, just because they chose not to be a puppet and say to every idea or whim. This puts the person out of the leader's grace and forces him to either "come around" to the leader's way of thinking or be indefinitely ignored. One is not free to disagree with a controller.

9. Never gives credit or shows gratitude

A Jezebel will rarely acknowledge another person's actions, not even for something that turned out to greatly benefit the Jezebel. He just cannot bring himself to say thank you or to acknowledge that someone else did something right. There are those who have gone out of their way to bless a Jezebel by being the catalyst of sending him on a trip or giving a gift. Yet never will there be a thank you. This again puts the controller in a position of power.

10. Criticizes everyone

This is a characteristic of a controller. He has to be the one who looks good, so he will quickly sharply criticize anyone who makes a suggestion or plan. Even though he likes the plan, he can only criticize it because the idea did not originate from him. Criticizing others elevates the controller in his own mind. And finally does the plan or the suggestion of the other people.

11. One-upmanship

A person with a Jezebel spirit will always upstage another person. He feels threatened by anyone who dares to steal the limelight or anyone who is a threat to his power and control. If you are with such a person and tell of your accomplishment or victory, you can be assured he will quickly tell of something he has accomplished.

12. Sequesters information

A Jezebel loves to be in control of information. If there is ever a situation where information is important, he will push to be the "first" to know it. He seems to know everything about everyone. Where he gets all his information is beyond comprehension, but he can dictate to you data and details about people's lives and actions in mass quantities.

13. Uses information

A Jezebel uses information as leverage for power and then shares tidbits with you, often things told him in confidence. This gives him a sense of power, even to the point of trying to impress people by "knowing things" that others do not.

14. Talks incessantly

Many people talk habitually, but a Jezebel uses talking as a form of control. In a typical conversation, he does all the talking, whether it is about sports, the weather or the Kingdom of God. Because of this form of control, he is unable to receive input from anyone in his life. All conversation with him is one-sided. You are doing the listening.

15. Spiritualizes everything

When a controller is confronted, he commonly spiritualizes the situation, explaining it off on God. This prevents him from owning up to responsibility required of him. The implication is always, "You've got a problem; I don't."

16. Is insubordinate

A Jezebel never takes the side of the employer or a person in authority, unless it is a temporary action to make himself look good. He often will take credit for someone else's idea. His main desire is for power and control. There is no conscience when an opportunity for recognition presents itself.

17. Is pushy and domineering

A person with a Jezebel spirit pressures you to do things, seemingly ripping from you your right to choose or make a decision for yourself. He makes others feel as though they don't have enough sense to think for themselves.

18. Is clairvoyant

Many who operate with a spirit of control also have a clairvoyant spirit. A Jezebel has supernatural help in knowning and sensing information. If he uses this against you, he may say "I can't tell you how I know this. I just know it." This is not the Holy Spirit, but the help of a clairvoyant or familiar spirit. Clairvoyance may be defined as the power to perceive things that are out of the range of human senses.

19. Uses the element of surprise

A Jezebel's main thrust is to be in control, and a large part of control is catching you off guard. Therefore, the element of surprise works well when he shows up a day early for a meeting, etc.

20. Sows seeds of discord

A Jezebel will continually belittle another person in the most subtle way. The strategy is to "gain" control by minimizing the value of another person. It is common for him to tell half-truths to implicate another person in your eyes. By sowing these seeds, he hopes to eventually reap a harvest of destruction, improving his position of power.

21. Commands attention

A Jezebel likes to be the center of attention and doesn't like to see others recognized and lauded. When someone else is recognized, he will quickly undermine the person's accomplishments verbally.

22. Is vengeful

Since a Jezebel is never wrong, if you contradict or confront one, get ready to become his worst enemy. As long as you are in agreement with him, all is fine. But if you confront or challenge him, then look out. You are the target of his fiercest venom. A Jezebel will stop at nothing to destroy your reputation.

23. Attempts to make you look like you're the Jezebel

A Jezebel spirit is difficult to pin down. If the person is near to being confronted, he or she will skillfully twist the entire situation, trying to make the innocent person look like the one who is attempting to control. As always, the Jezebel will do anything to look like the one who is right.

24. Insinuates disapproval

A Jezebel will often imply disapproval to those under his or her control. The controlled person feels no freedom to express an opinion, for fear of disapproval. This often manifests in a marriage or in a working environment.

25. Knows it all

A Jezebel is usually blatant regarding his knowledge of everything. Quick to express his opinion in any area, he leaves little room for anyone to point out the other side of an issue. He has made idols of his opinions.

26. Is ambitious

The Jezebel has strong desire, but all for self. "I want what I want when I want it," describes his worship of self-will. A Jezebel leader will never use the words, "We have a vision," but rather, "My vision is thus and so."

27. Gift giving

Gift giving is a form of manipulation a Jezebel uses that always makes you feel obligated to him. It also compromises the victim in speaking direct and confrontive truth. Naturally, not everyone who gives gifts is guilty of control, but gift giving is a tactic used by those who have a need to control.

28. Is independent

No one has input in a Jezebel's life. He fraternizes with no one unless it is to get you to "cooperate" with his agenda.

29. Is religious

A Jezebel dwells in the local church but doesn't like authority unless he is in the position of authority.

30. Hides

We all want to believe that the person with a Jezebel spirit is delivered. The person may seem "normal" for a period, exhibiting none of the classic traits. Then suddenly without warning a situation will arise, once again with the spirit taking control and wreaking havoc over lives. Hopefully, true repentance will come. Only then will the person be delivered.

NOTE: A friend has reminded me of one very prominent and important characteristic that is missing from this list written by Steve Sampson so I have added characteristic 31.

31. Sex and seduction

Jezebels will always try to lure their victim into bed to commit fornication or adultery. Jezebel really does not care about sex. This evil spirit uses sex as a way to control you. 

He can send some inoffensive "pictures" showing his attributes, remember that images with sexual intention can be around in your mind for long periods, and those with explicit sexual content may last in the mind for 26 years, showing up at any time.

The good news is that God gives each individual person the freedom of choice. Everyone has the freedom to make decisions, to make mistakes, to think for himself, to communicate, to like or dislike and to express his taste and creativity.

Those who control are in worship of their own wills and their own ways. Thank God for freedom.

If you recognize any of these traits in your own life, begin by praying this prayer:

Father, I acknowlege that I have yielded myself to the spirit of Jezebel.I come to you, humbling myself before you. I desire your standard of righteousness and holiness. I ask you to forgive me for my tolerance of the Jezebel spirit and for being sympathetic to its ways. Please forgive me for every way I have opened myself up to this spirit. Help me to ruthlessly reject every type of this thinking and the desire to control and manipulate other people. I renounce and bind this demon of Jezebel, and I pull down this stronghold in my life. Through the Holy Spirit I will live by your standard of righteousness, holiness and conduct. Open my eyes and cause Your light to expose any darkness, and help me to walk in humility and truth. In Jesus Name, AMEN!

3 Words Which Absolutely Destroy Worry

Worry is the act of imagining a future without God. When you strip it down to its bones that’s what it really is. I worry when I imagine a future devoid of God. I worry when I project my current feelings and discouragements and struggles into the future. I worry when I take God’s love and faithfulness out of the equation. When I imagine a stark and bleak future, a screaming void in which my faithful and loving Father does not exist or act on my behalf. Underneath all the anxiety and fear and confusing emotions worry is actually a form of atheism. It’s acting as if God does not exist. Psalm 18:46 provides three words which destroy worry and fuel faith: “The Lord lives…” Don’t pass over those words too quickly. The. Lord. Lives. My budget is flatlining and we are financially tanking and I don’t see hope for the future! But the Lord lives. The same Lord who owns everything and provides for ravens and sustains galaxies and calls us his children is real and alive and active in your life. You can’t provide for yourself but your budget is not too tight for God. The Lord lives. Worry is the act of imagining a future without God. My child is not doing well spiritually and I’ve tried everything and I don’t have any hope that anything will change! The Lord lives. The same Lord who has saved murderers and prostitutes and Pharisees and drug addicts and money addicts and pastors' kids is real and alive and active in your life. You can’t save your child, but your kid is not too hard for God. The Lord lives. My marriage is on the rocks and we’ve tried counseling and we’ve read all the books and I don’t see things getting any better! The Lord lives. The same Lord who created a bride for himself out of rebellious, wicked, God-hating sinners is real and alive and active in your life. You can’t rescue your marriage, but your marriage is not too hard for God. The Lord lives. My spiritual life is dry, and I’ve tried a thousand different things to get it kickstarted, but nothing seems to work, and honestly, I don’t think things are going to get any better. The Lord lives. The same Lord who caused you to become spiritually alive is real and alive and active in your life. You can’t breathe fresh life into your heart, but your heart is not too dry for God. Your circumstances may be bleak. You may not see a light at the end of the tunnel. You may not see any silver lining. But circumstances and tunnels and silver linings are not the basis of our hope, God is. Don’t be a functional atheist today. The Lord lives. Let’s live in light of that reality. El islam no es, por definición, una religión tolerante; a no ser cuando le conviene serlo, ya que su meta consiste en imponer la uniformidad religiosa allí donde llega siempre que puede.

Los recientes atentados terroristas llevados a cabo por musulmanes en Francia debido a las caricaturas de Mahoma han desatado una catarata de reacciones en todo el mundo. Los dirigentes políticos occidentales se han apresurado a señalar la diferencia entre terrorismo e islam, aunque los terroristas hayan perpetrado sus crímenes en nombre de esa religión. Pero en su énfasis en subrayar la diferencia entre ambos, han ido más allá, llegando a afirmar que el islam es una religión de tolerancia y de paz.

Ciertamente no es la primera vez que se producen manifestaciones en esa línea, porque nada más cometerse los atentados del 11-S el presidente George Bush afirmó en un discurso televisado que el islam es paz. Es verdad que hay musulmanes que aprueban y practican el terrorismo, al que denominan martirio y guerra santa, como forma de expandir el islam y castigar a los infieles; como también es verdad que hay otros [musulmanes] que rechazan tal método. Y tanto unos como otros se consideran musulmanes y apelan a su libro para defender sus posturas. La cuestión sería determinar quién representa al verdadero islam, esto es, quién tiene la patente de autenticidad.

Pero sea cual fuere la respuesta a esa pregunta, una cosa sí es clara: a pesar de todos los intentos para presentar al islam como una religión de tolerancia, los hechos muestran que eso es sólo cierto en tanto sus seguidores viven en un entorno en el que son minoría o allí donde no han alcanzado el poder político. Porque una vez que lo han conseguido, sea por el medio que sea, deja de existir tal tolerancia para los seguidores de otras creencias, que automáticamente se convierten en ciudadanos de segunda categoría, quedando limitadas las expresiones de su fe a una esfera muy reducida y siéndoles prohibido todo intento de acercamiento a musulmanes para exponerles dicha fe.

Si el islam es una religión de tolerancia ¿por qué no es posible fundar iglesias en suelo musulmán? Si el islam no está frontalmente reñido con la libertad de conciencia ¿por qué los misioneros cristianos en países musulmanes tienen que hacer su tarea clandestinamente? Si el islam, como dicen, es tan amplio en su noción de la libertad ¿por qué se castiga con la cárcel o la muerte al musulmán que se convierte al cristianismo? ¿Se puede poner alguien en una plaza de una ciudad musulmana a repartir literatura cristiana o a proclamar de viva voz a los que pasan el mensaje del evangelio? ¿Se puede invitar en Arabia Saudita, por poner un ejemplo, a los vecinos musulmanes a una casa para leer y comentar la Biblia, sin que aparezca la temida policía religiosa?

Hace poco el Real Madrid en su visita a ese país tuvo que eliminar la cruz que corona su escudo. ¿Es eso tolerancia? Nos quieren vender una idea que solamente los ingenuos se la pueden creer. El islam no es, por definición, una religión tolerante; excepto cuando le conviene serlo, ya que su meta consiste en imponer la uniformidad religiosa allí donde llega siempre que puede. En este punto habrá voces que se levanten afirmando que la tolerancia del islam se muestra por la existencia, durante siglos, de coptos en Egipto, de nestorianos en Irak, de jacobitas en Siria y de otros grupos de corte no cristiano, como los judíos. Ahí está, dicen, la prueba de que hay un islam tolerante, que permite la libertad de otras creencias en su territorio.

Pero el elevado precio que tuvieron que pagar los grupos mencionados, y otros, para poder subsistir en un ambiente hegemónicamente musulmán no deja lugar a dudas de la hostilidad y persecución sufrida. A causa de su heroica perseverancia no quedó más remedio que dejarlos que existieran, si bien imponiéndoles severas limitaciones en lo religioso, económico, jurídico y político.

Para que la tolerancia no sea mera palabrería los países musulmanes han de cambiar sus constituciones, reflejando en ellas que está garantizada la libertad de adoración, de culto y de expresión pública pacífica de cualquier creencia, sin que nadie tenga que sufrir represalias ni viva bajo el temor de la denuncia o la delación. Que la conciencia es un reducto sagrado y que nadie puede interferir en ella para obligar a un individuo a que crea de acuerdo a una determinada persuasión. Que quien quiera puede cambiar a otra convicción, sin sufrir por ello. Que la libertad religiosa no es una frase hueca para adornar un texto legislativo, sino para ponerla por obra diariamente y para con todos.

Cuando eso suceda, el islam podrá ser considerado una religión tolerante. Entonces será verdad lo que ahora los gobernantes occidentales proclaman tan ardorosamente. Porque una cosa es separar islam y terrorismo, lo cual algunos musulmanes ponen muy difícil, y otra muy distinta aunar islam y tolerancia, lo cual muchos gobiernos musulmanes ponen más difícil todavía, por no decir que lo hacen imposible. Y es que, en última instancia, la cuestión consiste en si el islam puede ser tolerante y seguir siendo fiel a sí mismo.
